MANILA, Philippines — The Adamson Lady Falcons booted out the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons and closed in on a UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball Final Four berth with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-16 win at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion Wednesday.

Shaina Nitura hammered 26 points including the clincher that put the Lady Falcons on the cusp of a semifinal berth.

Adamson rose to 8-5 to tighten its grip on the third spot, needing to win its last elimination round game against the FEU Lady Tamaraws (7-5) on Saturday to seal its Final Four place.

Nitura added six excellent digs and six receptions for the Lady Falcons, who took the sixth-running Fighting Maroons out of Final Four contention with a 5-8 record.

UP still has one game left against the UST Golden Tigresses (7-5) on Sunday.

Adamson, FEU, and UST are the last three teams disputing the final two semis berths after the 12-0 La Salle and 9-3 National University already secured theirs.

UP joined Ateneo and UE in the list of eliminated teams.
