Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Dalwinderjit Singh during a meeting with officials on Tuesday said that according to the revised schedule, the draft of the voter lists will be published in the district on August 3 and claims and objections will be received from August 3 to September 2. Notice phase/claims and objections will be disposed of from August 3 to September 28.

The District Election Officer said that the rest of the schedule will remain as per the notification issued on May 14, under which preparation, training and printing work will be done from June 15 to 24 and from June 25 to July 24. Booth level officers (BLO) will go door to door and get the forms filled by the voters. The final voter list will be published on October 1.

He said that out of 19, 71,179 voters in the district, during SIR, 17,39,946 voters (88.27 per cent) have been mapped from the electoral roll. He said that as per the instructions of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, a special camp is being organised at the booth level on June 7 from 10 am to 4 pm to provide special facility of voter mapping, comparing with the voter list of the year 2003. During the exercise, the BLOs will be present at their respective booths for the convenience of the voters.

He said that 2,134 BLOs, currently deputed in the district, along with the entire electoral staff, including 213 supervisors, will take part in the SIR exercise. He has issued BLOs for voters, who have not yet been mapped with the 2003 electoral roll.
