KUALA LUMPUR - Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has extended his support and prayers to the national contingent as they begin their quest for honours at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.
He said the proud display of the Jalur Gemilang at the opening ceremony early this morning marked the beginning of the Malaysian contingent’s campaign at the Games, carrying the hopes, prayers and unwavering support of the entire nation.
"I wish all athletes, coaches and officials of the national contingent every success as they represent Malaysia throughout the Games.
"Compete with confidence, uphold the spirit of sportsmanship and give your best for the nation,” he said in a Facebook post today.
Ahmad Zahid also prayed that the Malaysian contingent would have a smooth campaign, be blessed with good health, safety and strength throughout the Games, as they strive to deliver proud moments for the nation.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games are taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, from July 23 to Aug 2. - BERNAMA
