SIPITANG: Education and schools in the district continue to be assisted and strengthened by the Government through the WAM-2care programme.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Arifin Datuk Mohd Arif said 38 Parent Teacher Associations (PTA) in Sipitang were allocated RM76,000 under the Bagus assistance programme.

“For the Bisbah assistance, 29 secondary and primary schools in Sipitang are allocated RM217,500 and RM67,500 for nine religious schools as part of the RM12 million aid for equipment such as computers, LCD projectors, printers and others given in stages to 1,600 schools in Sabah,” he said when officiating the Malaysia Madani Forum and WAM-2care programme at the Sipitang Multipurpose Hall, here.

According to Arifin, SPM, STPM and STAM students would be given RM200 per person under Bantuan Khas Peperiksaan (BAKTI) aid, which targets 38,000 students from B40 and M40 group with an allocation of RM7.5 million.

“The allocation of RM10 million through the one-off Higher Leaning Institution (IPT) Registration Cash Assistance (BUDI) which was introduced last year will ease the less able to finance the registration of their children to IPT.

“RM1,500 will be given to those pursuing Diploma and Matriculation level studies and RM2,000 for Degree studies.

“Therefore, I call for all schools, primary, secondary or national and religious types, to join the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) to benefit from this special assistance,” he said.

Meanwhile, Assistance is also given for the implementation of religious programmes through Bantuan Khas Program Agama (BAKPA) with an allocation of RM500,000.
