Kota Kinabalu: Over 40 flood victims in Kampung Rampayan Laut, Manggatal, have been given essential food supplies following a joint relief effort by community groups and businesses.

The aid programme brought together several organisations, including the Lions Club of KK Downtown and the Malaysia Financial Planning Council (MFPC), who provided food baskets and rice packs to affected families.

Sabah MFPC Chairman Sunny Chai said FoodTown and Imbasjaya Sdn Bhd supplied the provisions, while KMH company arranged transportation to deliver the aid directly to residents.

“We wanted to ensure these contributions reached those who needed them most. Everyone worked together to make this happen,” he said.

“The food baskets were given directly to villagers to help ease their burden after their homes and possessions were damaged by flooding.

Sunny said the initiative aimed to meet residents’ basic needs whilst offering moral support during their time of hardship.

He noted such relief efforts depend on charitable organisations, community groups and private firms stepping forward to help.

In Penampang, Rotary District 3310, led by the Rotary Club of Penampang and Sabah Flood Relief Director IPP Eric Constantine, carried out another round of aid distribution to families affected by recent floods and landslides.

The mission, conducted on Thursday, focused on delivering personal protective equipment (PPEs), used clothes and linen directly to households in Moyog, one of the areas hardest hit by mud floods and landslides.

Food aid was also distributed to 449 families in Penampang and Papar, providing essential supplies to communities struggling with the aftermath of the disaster.

The effort was jointly undertaken by six Rotary clubs – Penampang, Likas Bay, Kota Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu South, Kota Kinabalu Pearl and Kinabalu Sutera – who mobilised resources and volunteers for the operation.
