MELAKA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s concern for the welfare of media practitioners was once again reflected through his contribution of a sacrificial cow in conjunction with this year’s Aidiladha celebration under the Majlis Qurban Media 2.0 2026 programme.
Melaka Media Practitioners Club (PENDIKA) chairman Amir Mamat said the contribution was especially meaningful in helping media practitioners from the B40 group in the state perform the korban (sacrificial) ritual and share the blessings with their families and local communities.
“PENDIKA greatly appreciates the concern and support shown by the prime minister towards the welfare of media practitioners, especially those facing rising living costs.
“Through this contribution, seven media practitioners in the state were selected to perform the korban ritual, enabling them to fulfil the religious practice while also sharing the blessings with their families and local communities,” he said in a statement here today.
He also expressed appreciation to the Gabungan Kelab Media Malaysia (GKMM), which coordinated the contribution of the sacrificial animal.
Apart from the prime minister’s contribution, PENDIKA also received another sacrificial cow from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility efforts to support the media community.
“The support from both parties shows that the welfare of media practitioners continues to receive attention, especially in ensuring those in need are not left out from benefiting from religious and community programmes.
“PENDIKA believes the spirit of togetherness, compassion and sharing reflected through the korban ritual can further strengthen ties within the community and instil noble values that form the foundation of national unity,” he said.
Meanwhile, GKMM said the programme, organised jointly with the Media and Strategic Communications Division of the Prime Minister’s Office, was successfully held today.
In a statement, GKMM said the programme, now in its second edition, was also held in six states, namely Putrajaya, Johor, Kedah, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang, in collaboration with several state media clubs.
“GKMM would like to thank the prime minister and the Media and Strategic Communications Division of the Prime Minister’s Office for their contribution and collaborative initiative in making this programme a success,” it said.
GKMM said the programme not only enlivened the Aidiladha celebration among media practitioners and local communities, but also encouraged the public to continue contributing to those in need while strengthening ties within society.
