KUNAK: Community leaders in Kampung Kunak Tiga are calling for increased control and monitoring of squatter settlements in the area’s waters, particularly those of the Pala’u or Bajau Laut community.
This comes in the wake of the recent Ops Koloni Setinggan operation to demolish illegal dwellings in nearby Kg Jeti.
Kunak Tiga Village Head Panglima Abdul Lahil Sarail said displaced Pala’u from Kg Jeti have sought refuge with relatives and friends in Kunak Tiga.
He said while the exact numbers are unclear, the influx has raised concerns about potential overcrowding and uncontrolled expansion of squatter colonies.
