MANILA, Philippines — Alex Eala's homecoming activities after her historic Wimbledon run is packed in every sense of the word.
After a short vacation in Europe, Eala came back to the Philippines last Sunday, July 13.
Shrugging off the jet lag, Eala went to work right away as she held a meet-and-greet with some fans and a media availability on Monday.
The 21-year-old ended the day on a high note as she went to the Malacañang Palace, where she was feted by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Marcos bestowed Eala a presidential citation to honor her Wimbledon run in London, where she became the first Filipino singles player to reach the grass major fourth round.
The next two days saw Eala held more media availabilities as well as a full-blown meet-and-greet fan event in Makati on Wednesday.
"What a week it has been," Eala posted on her Instagram story Saturday, reflecting on her eventful homecoming.
The week that passed also saw Eala top the WTA poll for the grass season "Star of the Swing" in a landslide fan vote on Saturday, getting 89 percent of the total votes.
