MANILA, Philippines — Filipino tennis ace Alex Eala is on track to be seeded No. 17 at the US Open women's singles play.
Eala is No. 18 in the rankings, but the withdrawal of No. 15 Victoria Mboko due to injury should move the Filipino one notch higher in seeding.
The No. 17 seed will be Eala's highest seeding in a Grand Slam, topping her No. 29 at Wimbledon last July.
As of writing, the official seeding of players hasn't been revealed yet.
Eala will face players likely outside the top 60 for the first two rounds before facing a player likely in the No. 9 to No. 16 seed in the third round.
