Alliance Select extends rehab work suspension

ALLIANCE Select Foods International Inc. has extended a temporary suspension of recovery and rehabilitation work at its General Santos City facility, citing continuing aftershocks in the area following last Monday’s 7.8-magnitude earthquake.

The company told the stock exchange that management had halted recovery activities pending completion of an updated structural assessment of the facility and related assets.

It added that resumption of production, initially targeted for June 16, could be delayed further depending on the results of the ongoing evaluation.

The suspension follows an earlier disclosure where the company reported a temporary shutdown of operations after the quake struck General Santos and nearby areas.

Alliance Select said the facility and related assets remained covered by insurance and that it was continuing to assess the impact of the quake and subsequent aftershocks.

The company reiterated that employee and contractor safety remained the priority amid continued seismic activity in the region.

Alliance Select shares last traded at 34 centavos on June 8.
