(UPDATE) ALYSSA Valdez is way past proving herself to other people.

The 32-year-old volleyball star made a triple-double performance of 22 points, 13 excellent receptions, and 13 excellent digs to lift the Jema Galanza and Bernadeth Pons-less Creamline in a grueling five-set match over the Cignal Super Spikers.

Valdez, who averaged 3.57 points per game in Creamline’s past seven outings, first scored her double-digit figure in a loss against Farm Fresh with 14 points, then posted a triple-double against Cignal on Saturday to allow her squad to enjoy a qualifying round incentive.

For the Phenom, the 25-19, 25-20, 15-25, 26-28, 16-14 win over the Super Spikers is a reminder for herself that she’s still here and Creamline can maneuver through uncertainties.

“I think every game serves as a reminder for myself and for the team that we’re still here. I don’t think... well, if there’s something to motivate myself, it’s actually quite hard to think about other people,” Valdez said in Filipino.

“So now, I’m really thinking of it as a reminder that we can still do this. I’ll just do my part in practice and help out whenever I’m needed. That’s really it. It’s not so much about trying to prove anything, but more about trying to stick together and reassuring myself and the team that we are in this together.”

Creamline will face Cignal on Thursday in the qualifying round on Thursday, at the Araneta Coliseum.

The winner of the match will advance to the semifinals, while the losing team will face the lower-bracketed team for a chance to advance to the next round.
