MANILA, Philippines — Jema Galanza caught fire late in the fifth set to lift the Creamline Cool Smashers over the Nxled Chameleons, 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 15-25, 15-10, allowing her team to extend their winning streak to five in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

After recovering from a career-threatening injury, Galanza delivered her best performance of the conference so far, churning out 19 points on 18 attacks and an ace, complemented by 10 excellent receptions.

“We just started with a good serve, and stayed patient in the match. We know that they won’t take it on easy on us. If we really want to score a point, we should show it. It all worked out because all of us worked together,” Galanza said in the post-game presser as Creamline now enjoys a 5-1 win-loss card.

Up by one in the fifth set, 9-8, Galanza fired three consecutive attacks to widen the gap over the Chameleons, 12-8.

Nxled committed an error that gave a free point to Creamline, but three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Brooke Van Sickle made a crosscourt attack and blocked Galanza’s attempt to stay alive, 13-10.

However, with Jia De Guzman showing confidence to Galanza, the 5-foot-7 smashed an attack from the middle to send the Cool Smashers to match point advantage, 14-10.

After a rally, Bernadeth Pons scored the winning point to finally put an end to the match, 15-10.

De Guzman’s 28 excellent sets allowed Pons to tally 18 points as Tots Carlos and Pangs Panaga added 16 and 13 points, respectively.

Nxled was led by Van Sickle and Myla Pablo, who churned out 28 and 22 points, respectively, as MJ Philipps added 12 markers.

The Chameleons suffered their fourth consecutive loss in the conference, 3-4.
