The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is the one that truly kickstarted Team Red’s domination in the CPU market, and even to this day, it remains competitive despite running on aging platforms, with immense value to top it off. However, two generations has passed since then, so it’s hard to get one of these right now – but it looks like this legendary chip may be making a comeback.
The Ryzen 7 5800X3D Returns?

Leaker HXL posted a rather interesting photo of what looked like some kind of presentation that mentioned the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor with its specs (8 cores, 16 threads, 4.5GHz boost clock, 100MB cache, 105W TDP), followed by a special “AMD AM4 10 Years Anniversary Edition” plaque, and a line of Chinese text that says “available starting Q2 2026”. Wait, 5800X3D in the big year of 2026?
As we’ve known by know, AMD didn’t really stop supporting Socket AM4 even when Socket AM5 is several years into its lifecycle, with the latest release being the Ryzen 5 5600F launched last September. Still, there’s only so much you can churn out of a Zen 3 silicon, so the chipmaker’s latest idea seems to be re-launching the 5800X3D to serve the budget market, and despite its special name, it’s exactly the same silicon as the one launched in April 2022.
While nothing is new, the good news is this could at least replenish the dwindling supply of 5800X3Ds on the market, so budget gamers and Socket AM4 motherboard owners alike can pick up this new chip – potentially for a cheaper price tag than the original $449 launch price – while AMD get more opportunities to stave off Intel’s competition in the budget/mid-range market, especially when Team Blue has brought some properly powerful stuff lately.
The only potential caveat though, is that this could be a Chinese exclusive. AMD has done it in the past where some GPUs (like the GRE models) were exclusive to Chinese markets, so if there simply isn’t enough 5800X3Ds from the chipmaker’s supply, it’ll most likely be sold only to China; we’ll have to see if AMD makes any official announcements regarding this to find out if that is the case.
Pokdepinion: Good news for those missed out on 5800X3D last time!
