MANILA, Philippines — Rubilen Amit denied fellow Filipino world pool champion Chezka Centeno, 4-3, 2-4, 4-2, in the second round of the WPA Women’s 10-Ball World Championship in Rome, Italy Saturday.
Getting back at Centeno who defeated her in the 8-ball worlds quarterfinals last week, Amit stayed on the winners side as she guns for a last 16 berth against Sofia Mast on Sunday.
Centeno, who ruled the 8-ball world championships, got relegated to the losers bracket and needs three wins to enter the final 16.
Centeno looks to stay in the tournament as she battles American Kennedy Meyman on Sunday.
A loss would boot her out of the competition.
Meanwhile, Amit and Centeno team up in the Women’s Doubles Master Showdown against the Japanese pair of Yuki Hiraguchi and Chihiro Kawahara on Sunday night.
