And the winner is... Burgas to host 2027 Eurovision Song Contest

The Bulgarian Black Sea resort Burgas has been chosen as the host city for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027.

It's the first time Bulgaria will stage the competition following the DARA's historic victory with 'Bangaranga' at this year's Eurovision in Vienna in May.

Many Bulgarian sources had tipped the capital Sofia as the favourite to win the hosting competition but in a statement on its website, the organisers EBU said Burgas was chosen as it offers "Eurovision fans a very unique setting for the world's largest live music event."

According to the EBU, "Bulgaria’s 4th largest city has built a strong reputation for its beaches, parks, cultural life and vibrant summer events, and for hosting music, arts and international cultural events."

Martin Green, Director of the Eurovision Song Contest, said: "We are delighted that Burgas will be the Host City for the Eurovision Song Contest 2027."

“For the first Eurovision Song Contest ever to be held in Bulgaria, we want to create something that feels truly Bulgarian while also being unmistakably Eurovision – a celebration that brings people together through music," he added.

The Grand Final of the 71st Eurovision Song Contest will take place on Saturday 15 May, with two Semi-Finals on Tuesday 11 and Thursday 13 May.
