Brooks Koepka is well placed after two rounds of the RBC Canadian Open in Toronto.

Koepka’s ball-striking actually has not been up to his usual high standards this week, but his putting has been exceptional.

In fact, he is ranked first in strokes gained putting through two rounds of the RBC Canadian Open, having gained 6.687 strokes on the field.

However, Brooks Koepka‘s driving has been a real problem this week in Toronto, and he is ranked well down in 108th in strokes gained off the tee.

In spite of that, the 35-year-old is currently sitting just two strokes adrift of the unheralded RBC Canadian Open leader, Ben James.

Brooks Koepka has been welcomed back to the PGA Tour with open arms by his fellow pros.

Now that he’s fully settled back on Tour, the next step for him is quite obviously to win again.

Brooks Koepka blames slow play for Canadian Open mishap

Koepka addressed the media on Friday afternoon after his second round at TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley.

The five-time major winner responded when asked how happy he is with his first two rounds in Canada.

Yeah, I would like to have that tee ball back on 13, Koepka admitted.

I just stood there for 10 minutes and tried to hit a low fade and then it turned into a high draw. And it just, you know, when you stand there and start thinking too long, that was kind of the issue.

I would love to have that one back. But other than that, played solid, it was fine. The ball striking hasn’t been phenomenal, but it’s good.

I would like to have that tee shot back. We stood there for about 10, 15 minutes and contemplated way too many shots rather than just getting up there and ripping it.

But I played well, that was the only thing I would like to have back.

Koepka’s wild tee shot on the 13th hole found the thick rough well left of the fairway and he was unable to find his ball.

At the time, Koepka’s double bogey came out of absolutely nowhere, and it felt like a real disaster for the American.

However, he bounced back superbly well, and despite bogeying his next hole, he finished up two-under par for the round.

Brooks Koepka is ‘really close’ to his best

Koepka responded when asked by one reporter to share his honest opinion of where his game is at right now.

I feel really close, the five-time major champion said.

The ball striking probably hasn’t been what I would say it’s been all year. Driving it well, maybe not as great this week.

The putting has been great. So I’m happy with it, I’m excited, and hopefully it continues this week.

Brooks Koepka has played some exceptional golf at the RBC Canadian Open this week.

He just needs to put everything together at the same time, and he will undoubtedly be back inside the PGA Tour winners’ circle very soon indeed.
