Ansu Fati has joined Monaco on a permanent deal following a successful loan from Barcelona.
The 23-year-old Spain forward scored 12 goals for the Ligue 1 side last term after joining on a season-long switch from the LaLiga champions.
Monaco have announced they have now taken up their option to buy with the player signing a four-year contract.
“AS Monaco is pleased to announce the activation of the purchase option for Ansu Fati,” read a club statement.
Fati was born in Guinea-Bissau but moved to Spain at the age of six. He began his youth career with Sevilla before joining Barcelona’s academy at the age of 10.
He broke into the Barca first team at 16 and went on to make 123 appearances, scoring 29 goals and earning international recognition. He also spent the 2023-24 season on loan at Brighton.
“FC Barcelona would like to thank Ansu Fati publicly for his commitment, dedication and his contribution during his time as a blaugrana, and wishes him all the best for the future both on and off the field,” read a statement from the Catalan club.
