
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Datuk Anthony Linggian and Bruni Garip continued their winning form by taking the men’s double title at the Penang Senior International Badminton Championship which was held at University Science Malaysia’s sports complex, Penang from July 7-9.
The second seeded pair captured the title in the above 70 category with an upset 30-14 win over top seeded Neoh Cheong Kooi and R. Karunakaran A/L E.G. Retban in the final that lasted only 17 minutes.
Bruni who was ranked top in the singles event then lived up to his billing by defeating Lim Chong Sek from Penang 30-7 in another one-sided affair.
It was Bruni’s fourth singles title since the start of the year, having earlier won in the World Morning Cup tournament, All England Seniors Open and Asia Pacific Master Games.
