Transport Minister Anthony Loke visits family of motorcyclist killed in suspected drunk-driving incident, offers condolences and personal financial aid

KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Anthony Loke today visited the family of a motorcyclist killed in a suspected drunk and drugged driving incident in Klang.

Loke was accompanied by Road Transport Department Director-General Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli to express condolences to the family of Amirul Hafiz Omar, 33, who died in the crash last Sunday.

The minister also presented a personal financial contribution to the victim’s widow, Nor Nadia Abdul Majid, 32, to help ease the family’s burden.

“However, no amount of money can replace the loss of a loved one, especially for a wife who must now continue life without her husband by her side,” Loke said in a Facebook post.

He expressed deep sympathy and solidarity with the family during this difficult time.

Loke also prayed for strength and fortitude for Nor Nadia and her family.

Earlier, a 28-year-old lab assistant, R. Saktygaanapathy, was charged in the Klang Magistrate’s Court with murdering Amirul Hafiz in the incident at 11.47am on March 29.

No plea was recorded from the accused, who was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, as the case falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Saktygaanapathy also faced a separate charge of drug consumption, to which he pleaded guilty.

The court set June 3 for mention of the case and the preparation of a pathology report.
