Arsenal have AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana on their radar.
L'Equipe says the Gunners are considering Fofana as a backup for No1 midfield target Declan Rice.
Arsenal have made two bids of 70m and 90m for the West Ham captain, with the Irons urging them to make a third offer.
In the meantime, Fofana has been identified as an alternative.
The 24-year-old likely to be available for a fee in the region of 30m this summer.
