- Arsenal Women have signed Spanish full-back Ona Batlle on a permanent transfer from Barcelona, as confirmed on Friday.
- Batlle came through Barcelona’s academy, but has previous WSL experience after playing for Manchester United between 2020 and 2023 before returning to Barcelona.
- Over the past three seasons, Batlle has made 114 appearances for Barcelona and helped the Catalan giants win three league titles and the Champions League twice.
- She has also had success on the international stage, winning the World Cup with Spain in 2023, and then reaching the European Championships final last year, when Spain were beaten by England on penalties.
- Batlle is the second high-profile player to move to the WSL from Barcelona this week after two-time Ballon d”or winner Alexia Putellas completed her move to London City Lionesses.
