The Malaysian women’s team begin their Asian Games campaign against Hong Kong tomorrow, with third seeds South Korea a potential quarter-final opponent.
MALAYSIA’S badminton squads face a challenging path in the men’s and women’s team events at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, with the action getting underway tomorrow.
Based on today’s draw, the men’s team will begin their campaign against Mongolia in the first round on Monday (Sept 21) at the Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium.
If they clear the opening hurdle, Malaysia are set to face top seeds Indonesia in the quarter-finals, and the national shuttlers will need to produce a consistent performance from the outset to keep their medal hopes alive.
In the same bracket, second seeds China have received a bye into the quarter-finals, where they will face either Hong Kong or South Korea, thus potentially setting up a meeting with Malaysia in the semi-finals, provided the national team make it that far.
Meanwhile, the women’s team will kickstart their campaign against Hong Kong tomorrow.

The team events will be held from Sept 20-24, before the individual competitions begin on Sept 25.
