KOTA BHARU – Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki and Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh are confirmed to attend the upcoming 72nd Pas Annual Muktamar at the Pusat Tarbiah Islamiah Kelantan (Putik) here.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said Umno representatives attending the Pas muktamar was not a new development.
He said Pas had previously welcomed Umno leaders to its muktamar, including during the Pas muktamar in Pahang in 2019.
“Previously, during Muafakat Nasional, we attended and Umno also attended our muktamar in Pahang.
“So, this time will be the second time,” he said when met by reporters after attending the final preparations meeting for the 72nd Pas Annual Muktamar at Putik here on Tuesday.
He said the attendance also showed that ties between the two parties were not something unfamiliar in the current political landscape.
Meanwhile, Takiyuddin said preparations for the 72nd Pas Annual Muktamar had reached about 90 per cent and entered the final stage.
He said Tuesday's meeting was the final one for the committee before preparations continued with a full rehearsal over two days from Wednesday.
“Officially, today is the committee's final meeting. But tomorrow and the day after, we will have a full rehearsal.
“Today, I want to see if there is anything that has not been fully completed and we will settle it,” he said.
