SHAH ALAM - In a fierce reaffirmation of the zero-tolerance stance on boarding school violence, Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) chairman Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said there will be no compromise for bullies, even if it means expelling them just three weeks before their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) trial examinations.

The warning follows a viral post on Threads, where a distraught mother alleged that her son had been physically bullied by senior students while studying at a Mara Junior Science College (MRSM) in Johor, forcing him to withdraw from the boarding school.

In the post, the woman claimed that her son had endured physical abuse, including being punched and kicked in the chest, as well as being elbowed, by Form Five students.

She also claimed that other students had remained silent about similar incidents because they were afraid.

Responding swiftly to the outcry, Asyraf said he had received feedback and that two students suspected of being involved in bullying were currently being questioned.

"The college’s disciplinary committee will convene immediately. If the allegations are proven, all of the students involved will be expelled from the MRSM.

"Even though they are due to sit for their SPM trial examinations in three weeks, there will be no compromise when it comes to bullying. I have already issued a warning. #YouTouchYouGo," he said.

The strict directive aligns with Asyraf’s zero-tolerance approach to bullying under its #YouTouchYouGo policy, insisting that Mara will not protect the institution’s image or the background of those involved.

The allegations have since sparked widespread discussion on social media, with many users urging authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and take firm action if the claims are substantiated.
