MANILA, Philippines — The Ateneo de Manila University led all Philippine universities in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings for 2026.
Ateneo ranked 501-600th place, followed by De La Salle University, Mapua University, University of Santo Tomas, and University of the Philippines in the 601-800th place bracket.
Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) was the only regional university to be ranked in the list, scoring at the 801+ bracket.
Meanwhile, 42 Filipino universities attained "reporter" status, or those who reported their rankings to THE, a 121 percent increase from the previous year.
According to the Commission on Higher Education, the high number of universities reporting their metrics to THE reflects a stronger participation in global benchmarking and more robust institutional data systems.
"These rankings affirm that Philippine higher education institutions are steadily gaining ground in the global academic community. More importantly, they highlight the growing commitment of our universities to quality, transparency, and international engagement,” CHEd Chairman Shirley Agrupis said.
