  • A 40-year-old man has been charged with five counts of attempted murder after a car struck a group of pedestrians in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, early on Saturday morning.
  • The incident, which occurred at 1.12am in Market Place, followed an earlier altercation in the town centre.
  • One man sustained life-threatening injuries, while four others received less serious injuries when they were hit by a red Vauxhall Astra.
  • Duane Anthony, of Marton Road, Chilwell, also faces charges of aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified, and driving without valid insurance.
  • Anthony is scheduled to appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday morning, as one of the victims, a player from Woodthorpe Park Rangers, remains in hospital fighting for his life.
