The National Audit Department has denied involvement in a fake payment scheme and urged the public to remain vigilant against forged documents.

PUTRAJAYA: The National Audit Department (JAN) has issued a strong denial of any involvement in activities soliciting payments for audit verification, fund releases, or certificate issuance.

The department stated it views the existence of forged documents using its name and identity with the utmost seriousness, particularly those related to audit matters and claims for an ‘External Audit Clearance Certificate’ (EACC).

“JAN also confirms that the viral letter is a forgery, including the unauthorised use of the name and signature of a department officer,” read an official statement.

It has since lodged a police report regarding the identity misuse and document falsification to facilitate further action by the authorities.

The department has advised the public not to be deceived and to refrain from making any payments to parties claiming to represent it for audit purposes or certificate issuance.

Members of the public are also urged to remain vigilant against any further misuse of the department’s name and official branding.
