Marcel Sabitzer fired 10-man Austria to a 1-0 win over Tunisia on Monday as Ralf Rangnick's side wrapped up their World Cup preparations on home soil.

The Borussia Dortmund midfielder settled the contest in the 63rd minute at Vienna's Ernst Happel Stadium, finishing a counter-attack after being played in by Stefan Posch.

Sabitzer had also scored the winner in Austria's previous friendly victory over South Korea at the end of March.

Austria were reduced to 10 men in the 36th minute when Bayern Munich midfielder Konrad Laimer was shown a red card for a last-man handball.

Tunisia had the better of the first half and almost took the lead when Anis Ben Slimane's free-kick came back off the bar.

Austria were more dangerous after the break, twice hitting the woodwork before Sabitzer broke the deadlock.

Austria open their World Cup campaign against Jordan on June 16.

Norway and Turkey win World Cup warm-ups

Norway shrugged off the absence of Erling Haaland to beat Sweden 3-1 at home and claim their first win of the year.

Jørgen Strand Larsen put Norway ahead in the ninth minute before Antonio Nusa doubled the lead in the 18th. Strand Larsen struck again before half-time to make it 3-0.

Liverpool's Alexander Isak scored Sweden's consolation in the 76th minute.

Elsewhere, Turkey also made a flying start to their World Cup preparations with a 4-0 win over North Macedonia.

Vincenzo Montella's side almost scored inside 11 seconds when Can Uzun hit the bar, before Orkun Kökçü put Turkey ahead after just 62 seconds.

Uzun did get his first international goal in the 16th minute, before Deniz Gül and Barış Alper Yılmaz completed the win after the break.
