A demolition drive was carried out by a team of the District Town Planner (DTP) in an unauthorised colony of Sabalpur village in Yamunanagar district.
The team demolished a network of unpaved (kutcha) roads built in the unauthorised colony.
DTP Rajesh Kumar said the drive was carried out as per the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Preeti. He said the team conducted the drive on about two acres. He said notices were issued to the defaulters as per rules under the Controlled Area Act No. 41 of 1963. He further said the landowners did not take the necessary permissions before setting up the illegal colony; therefore, demolition was carried out.
He appealed to the people of the district not to invest their money in such unauthorised colonies and to contact the DTP office before buying a plot. “Before carrying out any construction in the controlled area, one should obtain permission from the Town and Country Planning Department. The District Town Planner’s office can be contacted for any information in this regard on any working day,” said Rajesh Kumar.
