Sarawak takes centre stage in a new travel competition series as KC Global Media Asia launches AXN Ultimate Challenge: Sarawak, an original production created in partnership with AXN Asia and the Sarawak Tourism Board.
Premiering on the AXN Asia YouTube channel on 31 July, the four-episode series blends adventure, cultural immersion and destination storytelling as two teams of content creators compete in a series of challenges inspired by Sarawak’s landscapes, traditions and communities.
Hosted by Mark O’Dea, the 15-minute episodes follow Khenji Saito and Adam Manuel as they face off against Estelle Fly and Saffron Sharpe. Throughout the competition, the teams tackle physical and mental challenges while exploring lesser-known experiences across the Malaysian state.
Land Of Hornbills
Each episode highlights a different aspect of Sarawak, from eco-tourism and community life to local traditions and cuisine. Contestants will take part in uniquely Sarawakian activities, including foraging for sago worms, a traditional local delicacy, while completing tasks that test teamwork, endurance and problem-solving skills.
The series also features appearances by local personalities including Chef Achang Libat, Louis Samai, Luke Kenny Doo and blowpipe masters Cikgu Nyoging and Alfa, adding cultural insight and local expertise to each challenge.
Alongside the television competition, the participating creators will document their own experiences, providing viewers with additional behind-the-scenes content and personal perspectives from their journey through Sarawak.
AXN Ultimate Challenge: Sarawak premieres on the AXN Asia YouTube channel on 31 July, followed by the AXN Taiwan YouTube channel on 4 August. The series will also air across AXN East Asia, AXN Singapore and AXN China from 4 August, with weekly broadcasts every Tuesday at 9.30pm (GMT+8), alongside repeat screenings on Thursdays and Sundays.
The series aims to showcase Sarawak’s rich cultural heritage, outdoor adventures and natural beauty to audiences across Asia while encouraging travellers to discover the destination beyond its familiar attractions
