KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay will retire from the police force this Sunday after nearly 35 years of service.
Ayob Khan said Sunday would mark his final day in uniform after almost three and a half decades serving the police force.
"God willing, this Sunday will be my last day in the force after serving with the PDRM for almost 35 years," he said at a press conference after the launch of his biography here today.
Throughout his career, Ayob Khan held several key positions, including head of the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division (E8), Johor police chief, Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director and Criminal Investigation Department director, before being appointed Deputy Inspector-General of Police in June 2023.
On his plans after retirement, Ayob Khan joked that he might open a restaurant, giving the public a chance to see him in a different setting.
"Perhaps people will see me wearing a sarong and a pagoda shirt while flipping roti canai," he quipped.
For now, however, he said his priority is to take a well-deserved break after leaving the police force.
"I've received several offers, but I haven't given them much thought yet. God willing, I want to rest first.
"Perhaps there will be another book in the future with more detailed accounts of the operations I was involved in that can be shared with the public," he said.
