PAPAR: Police arrested a 41-year-old local after a bakakauk (homemade gun) and 10 bullets were found in his vehicle along the Pan Borneo Highway, in Kawang, near here.
Papar District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said a policeman in a patrol car spotted the suspect driving suspiciously and decided to intercept the vehicle for inspection at Kampung Tanaki, at 1.30pm, on Friday (Dec 22).
He said there were two people inside the vehicle and one of the suspects, who was sitting in the passenger seat, fled the scene on seeing the police.
“Police found a bag placed under the passenger’s front seat containing 10 shotgun shells and upon further inspection, they found a homemade rifle in the car’s bonnet,” he said.
