- Nick Knowles has admitted he is disappointed after the BBC announced plans to rest the popular home renovation show DIY SOS in 2027 as part of a £500m cost-cutting drive.
- The long-running programme, which has been fronted by Knowles since its launch in 1999 and is currently airing its 35th series, will be replaced by a spin-off titled DIY SOS Rebuilt My Life, featuring highlights from past episodes.
- The BBC denied reports that the show is being cancelled outright, stating that the new spin-off will expand the brand on the BBC in a more cost-effective manner.
- Writing on Instagram, Knowles thanked the thousands of tradespeople, suppliers, and volunteers who contributed to the show over 26 years, describing them as working-class heroes who represent the best of Britain.
- The decision to pause DIY SOS comes alongside broader savings challenges at the corporation, which have already resulted in the cancellation of other popular shows including Blankety Blank, Celebrity Mastermind and Live at the Apollo.
