BDO Unibank Inc. saw net income edge up to P63.6 billion in the first nine months of 2026 from P63.1 billion in the same period last year, driven by a double-digit expansion in its loan portfolio.
In a disclosure, the country’s largest bank by asset size said gross customer loans climbed 16 percent to P4.1 trillion, exceeding the banking industry’s 11-percent growth. The expansion covered all lending segments, BDO said.
The larger loan portfolio helped lift net interest income by 11 percent, while non-interest income increased three percent.
Pre-provision operating profit, which measures earnings before provisions for potential loan losses, grew 10 percent, supported by higher lending income and controlled operating expenses.
BDO’s non-performing loan (NPL) ratio improved to 1.60 percent from 1.77 percent a year earlier, while its NPL coverage ratio stood at 132 percent.
Total deposits rose 11 percent, with current and savings account (CASA) deposits growing at a slower pace of five percent.
Shareholders’ equity increased 6 percent, with book value per share also rising 6 percent to P123.60. The bank’s common equity Tier 1 ratio stood at 12.6 percent.
BDO shares on Friday rose P0.60, or 0.51 percent, to close at P118.00 each, defying the broader market’s decline as the benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index finished down 0.44 percent.
