Beautifying Kota Kinabalu: New Mayor, Liew share the same ideal

Kota Kinabalu: State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Christina Liew and newly-appointed Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah share the same ideal of elevating the beautification of Kota Kinabalu city to a new level from this year onwards.

They discussed the progress of current beautification works while agreeing on a long-term plan for enhancement of the Kota Kinabalu landscaping project, during a courtesy call by Sabin, on Thursday.

“We want to improve our City Park environment and give the people a brand new image of this popular spot, among other facilities. My Ministry (KePKAS) will work closely with the Mayor towards the realisation of the proposals to further ‘beautify and modify’ the heart of the city for the comfort of locals and tourists alike.

“I look forward to working with you,” Liew assured the Mayor.

During their exchange of notes, Liew thanked the Mayor for agreeing to decorate Gaya Street cum Api-Api Night Food Market with big, red lanterns to enhance the Chinese New Year atmosphere in the city.

Also present were the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Josie Lai, DBKK Deputy Director-General (Operations), Robert Lipon, and Head of DBKK Service Delivery Division, Norsarahana Zaki.
