Berry mix sold at Walmart is recalled in 16 states over E. coli risk

  • Walmart shoppers are urged to check their freezers after a recall expanded to include a frozen berry mix sold in 16 states.
  • Chilean supplier Frutas y Hortalizas del Sur S.A. has recalled a lot of Great Value Organic Triple Berry Blend due to potential E. coli O145 contamination.
  • E. coli O145 is a Shiga toxin-producing bacterium that can cause severe stomach cramps, bloody diarrhea, vomiting, and potentially serious complications like hemolytic uremic syndrome.
  • The recall affects 10-ounce packages featuring UPC 7874211226, lot code 6040 01-6, and a best if used by date of February 9, 2028.
  • The recalled berries were distributed to Walmart locations across 16 states including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin.
