TAWAU: An attempt by five men to steal coal at a factory area in Tanjung Batu Laut Logpond failed when they were noticed by security guards on duty last Sunday.

Tawau District Police Chief ACP Jasmin Hussin said the five suspects, aged between 38 and 69, were arrested. According to him, the security personnel who noticed the behaviour of the five men asked for their colleagues’ assistance to arrest them.

“Acting on information and complaints, a team from the Crime Prevention Patrol (RCJ) from the Tawau Police Station arrested the five male suspects in the factory area,” he said in a statement.

Jasmin said as a result of the documentation inspection, it was found that four of the suspects did not have any valid identification documents and were believed to be foreigners.
