
BJP candidates were elected presidents of the Municipal Committees in Sampla and Dharuhera, while Independent candidates dominated the municipal council polls in Rewari district.
In Sampla, which falls under the Assembly constituency of former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, BJP nominee Praveen Coach secured victory by polling 4,391 votes. He defeated Independent candidate Ankit by a margin of 687 votes. The Congress did not field any candidate for the Sampla Municipal Committee elections.
Speaking after his victory, Praveen said resolving drinking water and sewerage issues would be among his top priorities.
Independent candidates also performed strongly in Sampla, winning 11 out of the 16 Municipal Councillor seats.
Meanwhile, BJP-supported candidate Satyanarayan alias Ajay Jangra was elected president of the Dharuhera Municipal Committee. Jangra secured 9,392 votes, defeating Independent candidate Babu Lal Lamba, who received 3,156 votes. Congress candidate Kumari Raj finished third with 1,817 votes.
Jangra is considered a close supporter of Union Minister Rao Inderjit Singh.
In Rewari district, Independent candidates emerged as the dominant force in the councillor elections, winning 20 seats. BJP candidates secured 11 seats, while the Congress managed to win only one seat.
