BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says the party is open to extending its Negeri Sembilan cooperation with PN to the upcoming Melaka state election.

SEREMBAN: Barisan Nasional (BN) is open to discussing the possibility of extending its electoral cooperation with Perikatan Nasional (PN) to the upcoming Melaka state election, BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said.

He said the political landscape remained fluid and that such developments reflected the increasing maturity of Malaysian politics.

“We are open to any discussions because politics is very dynamic.

“It is this dynamism that has helped mature politics in Malaysia,” he said after a meet-and-greet session at Dewan Terbuka Kampung Taman Jaya, Bahau, today.

Zahid, who is also Umno president, was asked whether the electoral understanding between BN and PN in the Negeri Sembilan state election would be carried forward to Melaka.

Commenting on the so-called “blue wave” that swept Johor, he said it was not the result of any particular political formula but rather a momentum that developed organically on the ground.

He expressed hope that a similar trend would emerge in Melaka.

“The wave came about organically, and that is what we hope to see in Melaka,” he said.
