Kota Kinabalu: The collaboration between Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) is not exclusive, as BN is open to partnering with local parties, said Sabah Umno Treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
He said BN welcomes cooperation with local parties that share similar aspirations.
“The most crucial factors are sincerity and a willingness to collaborate.
“BN and PH must agree on the best coalition partners for Sabah,” he said in his latest Facebook post. The former Chief Minister however noted that BN and PH need to unite to face the upcoming State Elections. He said both BN and PH are the main pillars of the Unity Government at the Federal level.
“In Sabah, we must remain united. Our strength lies in our commitment to unity, stability and development.
“Our focus should be on the State and her people, rather than engaging in endless political manoeuvring. We reject divisive politics that tear our community apart,” he said.
The Usukan Assemblyman said any coalition must consider various factors and this includes fair and equitable seat distribution and shared policies.
Salleh added that any partnership must respect Sabah’s autonomy and foster a political environment based on mutual respect, rather than dominance or a big brother mentality.
“Once these principles are agreed upon, all parties must move forward as one team. “This is not a personal struggle, it is a collective commitment to the future of Sabah,” he said.
