BN-PN will decide Negeri Sembilan’s next Menteri Besar soon after securing a two-thirds majority in the state election, says Jalaluddin Alias.

SEREMBAN: Negeri Sembilan Umno chairman Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias said the Barisan Nasional (BN)-Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition will decide on the state’s next Menteri Besar as soon as possible following its decisive victory in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.

He said discussions on the appointment would begin immediately, but stressed that the final decision would rest with the party leadership.

“The decision on the Menteri Besar will be made as soon as possible. From this moment onwards, discussions will begin, but the matter is for the party president to decide,” he told reporters after BN and PN secured a two-thirds majority in the state election today.

Jalaluddin described the outcome as a strong mandate from voters, saying it reflected their desire for a government focused on serving all communities.

“This is not about any particular formula. What matters is that the people have made it clear they want a government that can continue leading Negeri Sembilan for the benefit of all communities, regardless of race.

“The people have rejected politics based on hatred and racial sentiments. Voters from the Malay, Chinese, Indian, Orang Asli and other communities have placed their trust in the understanding between Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional,” he said.

Expressing gratitude over the result, Jalaluddin admitted he did not expect such a significant victory.

“I am deeply moved and grateful to the people of Negeri Sembilan, especially the voters, for giving us such a strong mandate. I also thank Allah SWT for this extraordinary victory.

“I did not expect such a large victory, but this mandate comes with a great responsibility for BN and PN to strengthen the administration of Negeri Sembilan,” he said.

On speculation surrounding the coalition’s choice for Menteri Besar, Jalaluddin said the election outcome had provided a clear answer.

“The decision made by the majority of the people, which has given us more than a two-thirds mandate, answers those questions. We hope all negative perceptions and speculation can now stop.

“It is time to look forward and unite all sides, including political parties, so we can serve the people and ensure the prosperity of Negeri Sembilan,” he added.

Jalaluddin also urged the coalition’s newly elected assemblymen to immediately focus on fulfilling their election promises.

“My priority is to ensure that all 18 BN assemblymen and seven PN assemblymen carry out their responsibilities without compromise. Every manifesto promise must be fulfilled because the people will not tolerate elected representatives who fail to deliver.

“They will pass their judgment at the next election, whether it is a by-election, state election or general election,” he said.
