Kota Kinabalu: Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) said the coalition respects the High Court’s ruling on Sabah’s 40 per cent revenue entitlement, reflecting BN’s commitment to upholding constitutional rights ahead of the 17th State Election.
Speaking after officiating the PNG Tour @ Sabah: Mooda Desa X PNG event at Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS) on Saturday, Zahid said the matter will be reviewed from the perspective of fairness and the Federal Government’s financial capacity.
He said the Prime Minister would present the ruling to the Cabinet for further deliberation, while BN would incorporate key priorities related to Sabah’s development into its upcoming election manifesto.
Zahid said the manifesto would serve as the foundation for the coalition’s commitments to voters, with a focus on resolving issues related to infrastructure, electricity, and water supply.
The High Court’s decision on Friday, which ordered the Federal Government to negotiate within 90 days and reach an agreement within 180 days, has been hailed as a milestone in restoring Sabah’s financial rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
