SHAH ALAM – Barisan Nasional (BN) secured victories in two Segamat-area state seats in Bukit Kepong and Buloh Kasap, in the 16th Johor state election, maintaining its hold in both constituencies.

In Bukit Kepong, BN candidate Ahmad Syar'e Yusof, also known as 'Cikgu Syar'e', emerged victorious with 16,386 votes, defeating challengers from Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) in a three-cornered fight.

PH candidate C. Subramani received 4,667 votes, while PN’s Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal garnered 5,625 votes.

BN won the seat with a majority of 10,761 votes.

The result saw BN strengthening its position in Bukit Kepong, where the party managed to maintain a significant lead despite competition from PH and PN.

Meanwhile, in Buloh Kasap, BN candidate Zahari Sarip retained the seat after obtaining 14,054 votes.

He defeated PH candidate Rozy Razit, who received 5,454 votes, giving BN a majority of 8,600 votes.

The victories in Bukit Kepong and Buloh Kasap contribute to BN’s performance in the rural constituencies of northern Johor, where the party has traditionally maintained strong support.
