Boat with petrol seized in Semporna

SEMPORNA: The Marine Police Force (MPF) here seized a boat with petrol believed to be smuggled out to a neighbouring country, off Bulipatuid waters on Saturday.

The MPF team was patrolling during Ops Taring Gelora/Op Cegah Jenayah in the area when they spotted a boat in a suspicious manner.

When approached, two individuals onboard jumped into the water and disappeared. The team searched for the suspects but failed due to darkness.

The team inspected the boat and found 40 jerry cans each containing 25 litres of petrol.

He added that the seizures, worth RM17,300 including the boat and its engine, would be handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) for further action.
