BOC posts historic P97.5B collection

THE Bureau of Customs (BOC) recorded its highest monthly collection in history, reaching P97.463 billion in October 2026 despite a decline in import volume.

Preliminary data showed October collections were P14.501 billion higher than the P82.962 billion collected in October 2025. It also reached 99.42 percent of the month’s P98.028 billion revenue target, BOC Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno said on Friday.

Nepomuceno said the BOC’s total collection from January to October 2026 reached P853.662 billion — the highest in the agency’s history for the first 10 months of the year.

This surpassed the P846.522 billion target by P7.140 billion. It was also P69.029 billion higher than the P784.633 billion collected during the same period in 2025.

According to the bureau, its collections help fund infrastructure projects, health services, and other vital government programs and operations.

“For every peso collected, the agency contributes to the delivery of services that improve the lives of Filipinos, especially communities that need support the most,” Nepomuceno said.

He said the new records resulted from stricter collection monitoring, improved customs administration, and the collective efforts of Customs personnel nationwide.

“Every record we achieve reflects the dedication and hard work of our Customs personnel nationwide. My heartfelt thanks to all our collection districts for their tireless efforts and commitment to delivering results,” Nepomuceno said.

However, he said the agency still needs to collect more than P157 billion in November and December to meet its full-year revenue target of P1.011 trillion.

To achieve this, the agency will focus further on revenue monitoring, strengthen customs enforcement, and continue reforms that speed up the processing of legitimate trade and ensure proper payment of duties and taxes, he said.

In line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, Nepomuceno said the BOC will continue to intensify revenue collection, transparency, and accountability to support the government’s key programs and strengthen the economy.
