Kota Kinabalu: Suria Capital Holdings Berhad Chairman Datuk Faisyal Yusof Hamdain Diego described the Jesselton Docklands development as a bold reinvention of the city’s historic port into a vibrant precinct for commerce, tourism and urban living.

“What was once a working port has now begun its transformation into a thriving trade and tourism hub. With Jesselton Quay and now Jesselton Docklands, new life and vibrancy are being added to this storied coastline,” he said.

Faisyal said the project would connect seamlessly with nearby landmarks such as Sabah International Convention Centre and Kota Kinabalu Convention City, strengthening the capital’s role as a regional hub for business and tourism.

Future phases of the development will also feature a world-class cruise terminal, positioning Kota Kinabalu as a gateway for regional and international cruise tourism.

Meanwhile, Bedi Development Director Kong Chung Vui stressed that Jesselton Docklands was not only a milestone project but also a legacy for future generations.

“More than a development, Jesselton Docklands is a legacy. It reflects not only what we build today, but what we leave for tomorrow – a thriving, sustainable and iconic waterfront that will serve and inspire generations to come,” he said.

Kong recalled that the joint venture between Suria Capital and Bedi was formalised last year, with Phase One – called Bedrock – on track for completion by 2025.

He added that the project aligned with Bedi’s Borneo initiative, integrating ecological sustainability, innovative design and people-centric urban planning.

“Made in Sabah, for Sabahans – together, we are shaping the future of Kota Kinabalu,” he said.

Spanning 35 acres of prime seafront land, Jesselton Docklands will be developed in three phases, featuring high-end residences, hotels, offices, retail spaces, landscaped public areas and a modern ferry terminal.

The master plan, designed in collaboration with Norwegian architects Snøhetta, is divided into five strategic sections – Bedrock, Enclave, Reef, Tides and Holm.

Both Faisyal and Kong underscored that the project supports the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya development blueprint under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s leadership.

It is expected to generate jobs, attract investments, boost the property sector and create opportunities for local businesses.
