Brickfields police deploy a bomb disposal unit to inspect a suspicious object in Bandar Sri Petaling following public alarm.

MEMBERS of the public in the vicinity of business premises in Bandar Sri Petaling were alarmed following the discovery of a suspicious object believed to be an explosive this afternoon.

The incident was shared by social media users on Threads.

“There’s a bomb in Sri Petaling. I can’t go home now. The road has been sealed off by police and cars cannot get through. The bank has also been closed,” the user wrote.

Several police vehicles were seen in the area in a video uploaded to the platform.

Another video showed an officer wearing a black bomb disposal suit inspecting a plastic box in front of a pharmacy and cosmetics premises.

The post subsequently received various reactions from social media users, who expressed concern and hoped that no untoward incident would occur.

Meanwhile, Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Hoo Chang Hook confirmed the incident.

He said the police would issue an official statement to the media regarding the incident.
