Kota Kinabalu: A 13-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a Perodua Axia while crossing the road in Kampung Tebobon, on Thursday

The car, driven by a man in his 20s, was travelling from the direction of Kota Kinabalu towards Bandar Sierra before the 9.40pm incident.

AdvertisementKota Kinabalu District Police Chief ACP Kasim Muda said the victim was believed to have been running across the road from the right.

“The impact caused the boy to be flung to the right side of the road, killing him on the spot,” he said, adding investigations were continuing under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said the accident occurred around 7.30am as the motorcyclist was heading towards the Batu 10 traffic lights.

The motorcyclist died at the scene, while the 47-year-old lorry driver sustained minor injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
