BALIK PULAU - A five-year-old boy who died after falling from his family’s condominium unit in Teluk Kumbar here is believed to have climbed onto a chair placed near the living room window in the incident on Thursday.

Barat Daya district police chief ACP Anuwal Ab Wahab said the child was later found unconscious on the ground floor and police received a report on the incident on Friday morning.

"Initial investigations found that at the time of the incident, the victim was at home with his two siblings who were asleep, while his father had briefly stepped out for work matters and his mother was out of the country for work.

"The victim is believed to have woken up before climbing onto a chair near the living room window and subsequently fell,” he said.

He said a forensic examination at the scene found no evidence or signs of criminal involvement.

Anuwal said the victim’s body was sent to Penang Hospital for a post-mortem to determine the cause of death and the case is being investigated under Section 33(A) of the Child Act 2001.

Earlier, it was reported that a five-year-old boy was found dead after he was believed to have fallen from his home on the 24th floor of a condominium in Teluk Kumbar.

The child’s remains were taken back to Petaling Jaya, Selangor for burial arrangements after the post-mortem at Penang Hospital was completed. - BERNAMA
