Brandel Chamblee doesn’t believe Jordan Spieth can compete against the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy anymore.
Chamblee’s comments came after Spieth fired an incredible opening round of 65 at the Cadillac Championship on Thursday.
The 32-year-old from Dallas, Texas, has really struggled with his game over the past few years and is without a PGA Tour win since April 2022.
However, Jordan Spieth has shown encouraging signs recently that he is close to rediscovering his very best form.

In fact, Spieth said himself that he is very close to returning to the levels he showcased consistently in 2025.
Chamblee doesn’t seem convinced by the three-time major champion’s game, though.
Brandel Chamblee makes new Jordan Spieth claim
Chamblee was speaking about Spieth’s opening round at the Cadillac Championship during an appearance on The Golf Channel.
The straight-shooting golf analyst responded when asked whether he believes Spieth can now consistently compete with the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
“No. He has got to improve,“ Chamblee insisted.
“Periodically, here and there, yes. But consistently week in and week out, no.
“He has got between the ears what he needs to have. But he is not as fast, he is not as precise, he is not as good with the irons.
“Of course, the odd week here or there, when he gets himself in the hunt under the best circumstances and if he has the best week.

“But he would have to drive the ball better and hit his irons better. The rest he has got. He is a streaky putter.
“Some years he is third, fourth or fifth, some years he is 100. But let’s hope that what we saw last year and this year is a trend in the right direction.“
Too early to say that Jordan Spieth is back
It’s a fair point from Chamblee. Spieth produced some exceptional golf on day one at Trump National Doral, but would it really surprise anyone if he shot a 75 on Friday?
It certainly shouldn’t do.
Spieth’s driving on day one of the Cadillac was very solid indeed, while his iron play was exceptional.
His chipping and pitching were both remarkably good, and he gained almost a full stroke on the field with his putter.
The signs are really positive for the three-time major champion right now.
However, as Brandel Chamblee said, Jordan Spieth is a long way from consistently challenging the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy in the very biggest events.
